KNOWLEDGE – Learning to Live
“…in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.” ~Colossians 1:10
We’ve all experienced spiritual growth through knowledge: a Bible study that opened our eyes to the truth of God, a preacher who inspired us to deeper faith and commitment, or an author that explained things in ways that really made it click. Yes, we believe God changes us through his Word. Of course, the holy Scriptures are transformative. But the Scriptures never uphold knowledge only for the sake of knowledge. It’s not just gaining more information. The knowledge of God is intended to shape the way we think and behave. More knowledge should impact every facet of our lives.
Central intends to be focused on learning about God together well. We want to teach and learn together with excellence, powerfully and effectively. That means a commitment to enhancing our classroom environments and updating the technology. It will involve more experiential learning, more interactive time in our classes and worship assemblies, more participatory exercises when we’re together. It will concentrate on good theology which provides the foundation and motivation for effective ministry and Kingdom fruit. Mostly, learning at Central will primarily be aimed at understanding the Bible as God’s current and ongoing story and discerning together our own roles within that story.
